Terms of Use and Licence
Last updated November 3, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Jesse LakeYoungberg ("we") for the Daywright desktop app and this website. By installing or using the app you agree to them.
1. The trial
You may use the app free for 14 days from first launch. After that, until you buy a licence, the app becomes read-only: you can still view, search and export everything you entered, but not add or change entries.
2. Your licence
When you buy a licence, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the version you bought, and any updates released during your update period, on up to two computers that you use at the same time. You may move the licence to a new computer by deactivating an old one in the app or on our website.
The licence is for one person. A business buying for several people needs one licence per person.
3. Updates
Your purchase includes updates released for 12 months from the purchase date, unless your purchase says otherwise (the founding licence includes every update through version 3). After that, the version you have keeps working without time limit, and you may buy another 12 months of updates at the renewal price.
4. Daywright Sync and other subscriptions
Subscriptions, when offered, renew automatically until cancelled and are governed by the terms shown at sign-up. Cancelling a subscription ends the service it provides; it never removes the data stored on your own computers.
5. Payment and refunds
Purchases are processed by our payment provider, which acts as the seller and merchant of record and whose terms also apply to the purchase. If Daywright is not right for you, write to support@daywright.app within 30 days of purchase for a full refund. A refunded licence stops working for new entries.
6. Your data
Your data is yours. It is stored on your computer, and we do not claim any rights to it. You are responsible for keeping backups; the app makes daily backups to help you. See our Privacy Policy for what information we handle.
7. Connected services
The app can connect to services such as Google Calendar, Google Tasks, Google Meet, Granola and Claude. Those services are provided by other companies under their own terms. We are not responsible for them, and a service may change or stop working with the app at any time.
8. What you may not do
You may not share or publish your licence key, get around the licence or trial checks, resell or sublicense the app, or reverse engineer it except where the law allows despite this restriction.
9. Ownership
The app, its design and its code belong to us and our licensors. These terms do not transfer any ownership to you, apart from the licence in section 2. Third-party components are used under their own licences, listed in the app.
10. No warranty
The app is provided "as is." We work hard to make it reliable, but we do not promise that it will be free of errors or that your totals and invoices will always be correct. Check important figures before you rely on them, for example before sending an invoice.
11. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, including lost profits, lost revenue or lost data, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the 12 months before the claim.
12. Ending this agreement
You may stop using the app at any time. We may end your licence if you break these terms. Sections 6 and 9 to 13 continue after the agreement ends.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, and disputes will be heard in the courts of Cook County, Illinois, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim locally.
14. Changes
We may update these terms. Changes apply to purchases made after the change, and we will mention significant changes in the app's What's new.
