Privacy Policy

Daywright is a desktop app for tracking time, tasks and meetings, made by Jesse LakeYoungberg ("we"). This policy explains what information the app and this website handle, where it goes, and the choices you have.
The short version
- Your time entries, tasks, clients, invoices and notes are stored on your computer, not on our servers.
- When you connect Google, the app reads your calendar and, only if you turn them on, your Google Tasks, your Google Meet notes and the calendar holds it creates. That data goes from Google straight to your computer.
- If you turn on Activity, the app notes which app and website you are in while a timer with no description runs. It never notes window titles, full web addresses, your screen or what you type, and it never leaves your computer.
- We receive only what we need to keep the waitlist, sell you a licence and support you.
- We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Information stored on your computer
The app keeps its data in a file on your computer: time entries, clients, tasks, agendas, invoices and settings. Sign-in tokens and keys for connected services are stored encrypted in your operating system's keychain. We cannot see any of it.
The app makes a daily backup copy of that file. If you choose a backup folder that a cloud storage provider syncs (such as Google Drive, iCloud Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive or Box), that provider uploads the copies under its own terms and privacy policy. Each copy is named with your computer's name, so two computers can share one folder.
Google user data
If you connect a Google account, the app asks for these permissions, each only when you turn on the feature that needs it:
| Permission | Asked | What the app does with it |
|---|---|---|
See your calendarscalendar.readonly | When you connect Google | Shows your meetings, logs time against them, finds time you have not logged, and attaches agendas. |
Create and edit calendar eventscalendar.events | Only if you turn on calendar holds | Puts the time you planned for a task on your calendar, and moves or removes those holds. |
Google Taskstasks | Only if you turn on Google Tasks sync | Shows your Google Tasks in Daywright and marks them complete when you finish them. |
Google Meet meeting recordsmeetings.space.readonly | Only if you turn on Google Meet notes | Finds the Meet call you tracked and the notes document Gemini wrote for it. |
Google Docs, read onlydocuments.readonly | Only if you turn on Google Meet notes | Reads that notes document, to offer its suggested next steps as tasks. |
Google user data is fetched directly from Google to your computer and stored there. It is never sent to our servers, never sold or shared with anyone, never used for advertising, and never used to develop, improve or train AI or machine learning models. No one reads it but you.
If you add the Daywright connector to the Claude app (below), Claude can read your entries and the meetings on your calendar when you ask it a question. That happens only at your request, on your computer, and what Claude reads in a conversation is handled by Anthropic under its own terms.
Daywright's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
You can disconnect Google in the app's Settings at any time, which deletes the stored sign-in, and revoke access at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Activity, if you turn it on
Activity describes a timer you started with no description by noting what you work on while it runs. It is off until you turn it on in Settings, and the app shows what it notes before you do.
- What it notes: the app in front of you; in a supported browser (Safari, Chrome, Arc, Edge, Brave, Vivaldi, Opera, Helium and other Chromium browsers), the site of the front tab, cut to its address up to the first part of the path (for example docs.google.com/presentation); and whether you have been away from the keyboard and mouse. Only while a timer with no description, task or meeting is running.
- What it never notes: window titles, full web addresses, the contents of your screen, or what you type.
- Where it is kept: on your computer, beside the app's data file, not in it. The raw notes are deleted within two days. The names of the apps and sites behind each label are kept for 14 days so you can correct them, then only the label and its minutes remain. None of it is in your backups, and the Claude connector cannot read it. Turning Activity off deletes it all.
- What is kept on your entries: labels and their minutes. Your labels, the app and site rules you set, and the ones you chose to skip are kept in the data file.
- Permissions: on a Mac, macOS asks once for each browser before the app may read its front tab. If you decline, time in that browser is labelled with the browser's name.
Nothing Activity notes is sent to us or to anyone else.
Other services you choose to connect
- Granola. If you add a Granola API key, the app fetches your meeting notes and action items from Granola to your computer.
- Claude. If you add the Daywright connector to the Claude app, Claude can read and add to your Daywright data when you ask it to. The connector runs on your computer and cannot delete anything.
- Live feed. If you turn on the live feed, the app sends your current timer and today's totals to the address you enter.
Each of these is off until you turn it on.
Information we receive
- The waitlist. If you join the waitlist on this website, we keep your email address and the date you joined, in a database hosted by Cloudflare, to tell you about the beta, the launch and Daywright Sync. Every email we send has a way to leave the list.
- This website. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which handles visitors' IP addresses and request details to serve and protect the site. The site sets no cookies and uses no analytics or advertising.
- Support. If you email us, we keep the messages and anything you attach. Mail to support@daywright.app is forwarded by Cloudflare to our mailbox at Google.
- Purchases, once the licence is on sale. Payments are handled by our payment provider, which acts as the seller and merchant of record. It collects your name, email, billing address and payment details under its own privacy policy. We receive your email, what you bought, and your order and licence details. We never see your full card number.
- Licence activation, once the licence is on sale. When you activate or check your licence, the app sends your licence key and a name for your computer, so a licence can be limited to two computers and moved between them.
How long we keep it
Waitlist emails: until you leave the list, or the waitlist closes. Support emails: up to three years. Purchase and licence records: as long as tax and accounting law requires. Data on your computer stays until you delete it.
Your choices and rights
You can export your data from the app at any time, delete it by deleting the app's data folder, and disconnect any service in Settings. You can ask us for a copy of, or deletion of, the information we hold about you by writing to support@daywright.app. Depending on where you live (for example in the EU, the UK or California), you may have further rights, which we will honour.
Children
Daywright is a work tool and is not intended for children under 16.
Changes
We will post changes to this policy on this page with a new date and, for significant changes, mention them in the app's What's new.
